MARINA AND THE DIAMONDS- ELECTRA HEART

Last week I figured out that the newest Marina and the Diamonds album, Electra Heart, had been released in the UK. I realize she's a British artist, but I was all like, HELL NAW, 'Merica up in heyah, and I want my Marina NOW. So, off I went onto some crazy, off the radar, probably gonna jack up my computer royally (British reference) in the long run website to very, VERY illegally download every single bit of Electra Heart, including the four bonus tracks. I mean, I could have easily downloaded it without the four bonus tracks, but who are we kidding? I'm very greedy when it comes to music, and I want to crush and embarrass you with my extensive knowledge base. I am also a liar, and that's not true at all. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss a song that I could listen to while I curled myself into a ball and cried.

Lemme tell ya, I am not AT ALL dissapointed with this sweet gem of an album. It's dark, it's light, it's bouncy, it's thrashy. There are songs like the pre-released, "Primadonna", that will make you want to dance until the rising of the sun and almost make you forget that Robyn is your real dance hitmaker hero. ALMOST. Then there are songs such as "Lies" and "Starring Role" that make you want to slow motion hip roll the shit out of the air hoping your ex-boyfriend is peering on to see all that air thrusting he's missing. Oh...and then...THEN there are songs like "Hypocrates" that bring you back to the days of being in high school and taking long afternoon drives to try to forget about "him", where everytime you go over a train track you lift your feet and PRAY that someone better will come along. Ladies, you KNOW you've been there, so let the chorus that questions, "Who are you to tell me who to be," become your official fuckit anthem. And that song you can and will cry to? Oh, it's called "Buy the Stars" and whattaya know, IT'S IN THE BONUS TRACKS. I knew it all along. Also, listen to "Valley of the Dolls", which is an homage to, you betcha, the identically titled movie that speaks to a certain population which funnel themselves into an unsavable state of depression. Some people do like it There. I take seasonal vacays to There.

Had I have waited until it was legal to download Marina and the Diamonds' Electra Heart I would have absolutely paid the full value for this album. Maybe when it's available in JULY in the states, I'll pay for it. We'll see when that time comes, but JULY is forever away, so I urge you to do as I have done and illegally download now, pay later. Don't be scurred. Reach out...and touch faith?
